My wife, Cheryl, and I drove to New Smyrna Beach last month, excited for a fantastic sunrise. When we got there, the overcast sky made for less than ideal conditions for what we had hoped for (see pic).. I was disappointed. But then I changed perspectives. This is the start to another unique day in our universe. This unique presentation of clouds, birds, ocean, and sun have never been witnessed before on earth (and never will be again). This moment is another memory created just for my wife and I. Hey – I’m alive and healthy enough to drive out to see this sunrise. Shifting perspective allowed me to see the beauty in, and of, the moment, despite my bloated expectations. Sometimes the best thing that you need to bring to a situation is not judgment but appreciation.
